The side panel attachment is the same as on many other be quiet! cases, including their top-of-the-line Dark Base Pro 900 rev. 2, and although it makes sense for the Pure Base line, we hope they come up with something more advanced in the future for their high-end cases. It’s the usual fragile metal tabs punched out of the steel of the side panel that slot into holes in the case on one side, and thumbscrews through glass on the other. Both work fine, and be quiet! does a good job of shaping its steel side panels with rails that keep them rigid and slide neatly into place, but there are better ways to do this, like the NZXT H710’s system. All thumbscrews on the case (other than the ones through the glass panel) are captive. For cooling, it's possible to install up to three 120 mm or two 140 mm fans on the front, two 120 mm or 140 mm fans up top, and a single 120 mm or 140 mm blower on the rear. Radiator support includes up to 280 mm up top and up to 360 mm (or 280 mm for 140 mm fans) on the front. Regardless of what CPU you choose, you'll likely find it hard to run into cooling issues as far as the case is concerned. All fans intake: 2 x 120mm front, 1 x 120mm top and 1 x 120mm rear all pulling air into the system. The main area inside of the case is left free of obstructions, which makes getting the motherboard into place easier, and it leaves room to install exceedingly large graphics cards (up to 369mm in length). As mentioned, the motherboard area is for ATX-size boards, though of course the case can accept smaller MicroATX or Mini-ITX ones.

Moving on from cooling, let's talk over the rest of the spec sheet that builders will need to bear in mind. You've got the usual 7 PCI slot expansion bars, two HDD mounts in a removable cage, alongside five SSD mount options. Dust filters are located on the top, bottom, and front. GPU and CPU cooler clearance is in line with other mid-tower PC cases and should fit most cards and crazy big coolers. You didn't hear the latest and greatest then. Or atleast not the greatest. The PC market is larger, with plenty of poor examples. But when done right, PCs are hard to beat for silence because of the selection of components available. I have a 2010 MacPro and a PC in a Silverstone FT-02 (a 10 year old case) and the PC is quieter. The Mac has a slight ambient hum from anywhere in the room. The only sound from the PC is air moving, which becomes silent at 3ft. There's also the temp differences... much of the reason Macs run quietly is simply because Apple decided to sacrifice thermals when setting the fan curves. It's a clean design that allows for some degree of customization, especially if you're a modder. And thanks to that considerable intake mesh on the front panel, you can kit this thing out with an AMD Ryzen or Intel Xeon CPU without issue when it comes to providing enough air for installed cooling. In fact, you could even go all out with a custom water-cooling loop.

With the side panel removed we look at the rear of the chassis and notice the 140 mm rear exhaust fan. Below the fan are seven PCI extension cover plates. Looking inside to the top of the case is the final 140 mm fan. This one is located in the rear position and is set to exhaust. There are provisions for either two 120 mm fans or two 140 mm fans as well as radiators of 280 mm or 240 mm long. Other companies with too specific or unfortunate wording have changed their name to better represent what they sell. Positive pressure configuration is the reverse of the negative pressure setup with two 140mm fans at the front of the case for intake and a single 120mm fan exhausting hot air out of the rear. Inside the Pure Base 500DX, the PSU and 3.5-inch-drive storage mounts are located in a compartment at the bottom of the case. In addition to making the finished system look cleaner, this design also makes building the computer easier in many ways. Rotating 180° again to view the bottom, we see the removable bottom filter. This is a full-length filter even though the lower PSU intake mesh is only roughly half the length of the chassis. The four trapezoidal feet are fitted with a fair amount of rubber padding to ensure a stable platform. Bottom View Stripped Down

Pure Base 500DX White offers various options for installing up to five SSDs in total. Two can be installed for prominent viewing through the window panel. To hide any unwanted cables, the case offers excellent cable routing options. Akár további két, 140 mm-es ventilátor is beépíthető.
